Rules, Reunion and Shaper

There are two cardinal rules in my book for making every women look her best, no matter her shape or size.

  1. The best universal hemline is at the knee, or slightly above the knee

Look, here’s the deal. My clients who claim to hate their knees and calves quickly learn the easiest way to drop 10 pounds is to hike up the dangerous mid to low calf hemline. There is a natural hour glass break between the calf and knee. For most of us it’s the skinniest part of our legs (above the ankle). Its benefits are endless to our dressed silhouette, so no more hiding it. Conversely, unless you really do still have the legs from high school, there isn’t a compelling argument to go strutting your bare mid thigh in a mini unless you are a marathon runner and have a great spray tan solution. When it comes to skirts “slightly” above the knee is not a mini.

2. Don’t hide the “no-longer-high school” body with a full dress

Most of my clients are real women ranging from size 8-18. Somewhere in their 20s and early 30s when their bodies finally lost the high school/college figure many of them decided to start hiding their curves. This is like hiding the shapely figure of the 1970s Corvette Stingray with a canvas cover. No, no, no!  My latest victim of the “full dress” mentality will be strutting her stuff in a bold colored, body shaping, “I love my figure” dress to her 20th reunion in 2 weeks. The pictures don’t lie ladies; show off those curves.

Now, be a dear and share this with your girlfriends. The ban on bad hemlines and shapeless dresses starts today!

Dressing You Daily,

Amy

PS. Don’t forget your shaper. We like the full dress shapers that do not snap you into a piece of body armor. Here’s one of our faves.
